For some of my friends who are new to coupons I thought I would write a post of coupon terms so you can get familiar with them.

Now....some great places to get coupons are not only smartsource.com or redplum.com but the manufacturer's website. So.....like a particular cereal.....check out the website. I know Bettycrocker.com has great coupons. Do you Twitter? Follow your favorite brands as they often tweet about upcoming deals & sales. Same goes for facebook.
Some great blogs are coupongeek.com, moneysavingmom.com, commonsensewithmoney.com. Google for more.
I hope this helps some of you new to couponing.
Okay, I have a dumb question. When you've said that some places "double" coupons, does that mean you can use one coupon for multiple items? Or does that mean you can use two coupons for the same item? Or something completely different?
ReplyDeleteOk....not a dumb question. It means that they double the value of the coupon. Most stores limit it. For example...Freds. On Saturdays they have double coupon day. I had a coupon for 35 cents off a can of comet. It was on sale for $1. They doubled my 35 cents to make it 70 cents off. So instead of a dollar it only cost me 30 cents. If I had went on say Friday they only would have taken 35 cents off but since it was their double day they gave me 70 cents off. I hope this makes sense. Now....Freds has rules. Most stores due but since this is the only one in this area its the only one I know. They only do it on Saturdays, only coupons up to 70 cents are doubled. They will take any value coupon you have but will only double those for 70 cents or less. And only 1 per transaction. Back to my example. If I had 2 comet coupons I would have had to get in line twice to use those. I will do that when I have a lot of say free stuff coupons. Like deodrant. I usually have a 50 cents off coupon shich doubles to a dollar. Since they have thay brand (suave) for a dollar I get it free. (well....you have to pay sales tax) so if I have 3 coupons I will get in line 3 times. I usually do this once a month & do batch transactions. (I'll work on a post on how I do that) I hope this is not confusing. If so I am sorry & will try to explain it another way. Thanks for the question.
ReplyDeleteYou can't fool me...that sound a lot like math. And I believe I made a vow in junior high to never use math in the real world.
